Vulnerability is a tricky thing. It has a specific tone of voice and words that sound like what we think compassion, excitement, and pain should sound like. But without also experiencing the feeling of vulnerability, those mentioned above are kind but distant pleasantries. You can feel that too. It’s nice, but we all know the real thing. Most of us know what real vulnerability feels like, even if we haven’t shown it much or received it much.
It’s possible to play two in one though. The Self that is not vulnerable. And the Self that hopes to experience vulnerability. This is what my self-dialogue was like today. I said all the words in the vulnerability dictionary, but I didn’t feel it. I heard it. I just didn’t feel it.
I’ll try again tomorrow.
